{"id":223,"date":"2025-03-13T14:49:53","date_gmt":"2025-03-13T14:49:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/privateblog.nobytesleft.net\/?p=223"},"modified":"2025-03-13T14:49:54","modified_gmt":"2025-03-13T14:49:54","slug":"virtualbox-on-windows-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/privateblog.nobytesleft.net\/?p=223","title":{"rendered":"VirtualBox on Windows 11"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>VirtualBox on Windows 11 will run VMs with the &#8220;Green Turtle&#8221; icon, at a very reduced speed, unless some steps are made (which may also reduce Windows 11 security).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having W11 24H2 installed, the following set of actions was necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In Windows features, disable: Containers &#8211; Hyper -V &#8211; Virtual Machine Platform &#8211; Windows Hypervisor &#8211; Windows Sandbox &#8211; Windows Subsystem for Linux (some were already disabled)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the &#8220;Core Isolation&#8221; Settings, disable &#8220;Memory Integrity&#8221;.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Run in the administrator command prompt:<br><code>bcdedit \/set hypervisorlaunchtype off<\/code><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Download the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/download\/details.aspx?id=53337\">Device Guard and Credential Guard hardware readiness tool<\/a> from Microsoft, uncompress the .zip file, open an administrator PowerShell and run from the uncompressed directory:<br><kbd><code>.\\DG_Readiness_Tool_v3.6.ps1 -Disable<\/code><\/kbd><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reboot the PC. You will be asked whether to disable Credential Guard (say NO) and to disable Device Guard (say YES).
